Fish Island took all 3 points against rivals Birkbeck Orient.
After 2 weeks of cancelled matches it was great to be back out there. Due to late drop outs Birkbeck were down to nine men from the start of the match.
FIFC played the first half with the wind which saw us play largely in our opponent’s half. Andrew scored the opener. The goal came after a neat exchange with Jack in the box and the finish matched the build up: 🔥. 0-1! The second was scored by Jozef. David crashed the the ball off of the crossbar from the edge of the box. The rebound fell to Jozef who drilled it home from distance. 🔥 Toasty 🔥. 0-2!
0-2 at half time.
The message at half time was to step up the urgency and be aware of long balls in the second half.
Birkbeck pulled a goal back in the second half from a goal kick. The Birkbeck keeper punted the ball the full length of the pitch. Alex was beaten to the ball by an onrushing striker who flicked it home. 1-2. The rest of the match felt quite nervy for the Scales despite few chances being created by the home side. Jack was unlucky to have a goal ruled offside after a nice link up with Nathan. Harry was also unlucky as he was denied by the post in the closing stages.
1-2 at full time
