It was a second league defeat for Fish Island as they lost 1-2 to Bow Bbadgers.
Fish Island started well in the first half with greater ball possession and passing accuracy. The first chance of note came to Jozef. The FIFC fullback skipped past a man in the box and hit a Rabona onto the post. The Bbadgers’ goalkeeper was caught off guard and thankfully watched the ball ricochet out of play. The away side able to test Alex with a couple of shots of their own. Fish Island’s number 1 dealt with them however it was a reminder that the Bbadgers possessed a goal threat of their own. The Scales opened the scoring after they were awarded a penalty for a handball. Jordan’s spot kick was saved but the ball was parried back into his path making it an easy follow up for the number 10. 1-0!
1-0 at half time.
The scoreline at half time was deserved however the penalty was admittedly questionable. Nonetheless Fish Island had to stay focused in the second half to not let their performance drop.
The second half saw a penalty awarded to the Bow Bbadgers. Pierre was judged to have used him arm to control the ball in the box. The decision was as equally dubious as the one in the first half. The Bbadgers’ number 10 stepped up to roll the ball into the net. Not the fiercest strike but he managed to send Alex the wrong way. 1-1. The football in the second half was not as fluid for either team resulting in very few chances. The Bbadgers’ winner came the penalty spot. The referee awarded a third penalty of the match for a push in the penalty box. The offender was Pierre again and once more the decision could be described as highly suspicious. It appeared to be collision of two players going for a cross rather than a deliberate attempt to impede the attacker. The Bbadgers’ striker stepped up and converted from the spot. 1-2. The game crawled to an end with the Scales probing for an equaliser but coming up short.
